Summer break is here and that means more free time and fun! I love to get lost in a good book. I have a PILE of books ready to be devoured and I am hoping to get through a few this summer between driving my kids to summer camps and family vacations. So here is my list of what I’m reading this summer break.
Some of these books I found on my own, some were recommendations from friends and others I saw on social media. Here are a few of the books in my “must read” pile and a few past favorites!
People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
I love Emily Henry’s fun romance novels and I bet you will too. She is one of those authors I automatically buy when a new book releases, she’s that good! If you’ve already read People We Meet on Vacation and loved it, try Happy Place which is a perfect summer mood fun read!
Colleen Hoover Books
If you have not read It Ends with Us, her bestselling novel from 2016, do it! I am sure someone you know has and they loved it. It is an emotional, love story of Lily and her journey with very complex relationships. It really pulls at the emotions and deals with domestic violence if that would be something that may not be in your interest. She has many other books including, Ugly Love and November 9 that I have in my pile.
Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan
This one I saw online and it is a new release. It has been popping up everywhere in book clubs and stores since its release June 6th. It looks like a fun, light hearted, summery romance novel and that is right up my alley! I can’t wait to dive in! Annabel Monaghan also wrote the popular book, Nora Goes Off Script.
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
Looking for less summer romance? I’ve got that too! I am looking forward to reading The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It is set during WWII in German occupied France and follows the lives of two sisters during a dark time in the history of the world. It has come highly recommended by a friend. Kristin Hannah also wrote, Four Winds, set during and after the Great Depression and tells the story of America (the good and bad) during that time. I really loved that book by her and wanted to try another!
Educated by Tara Westover
The title got me on this one! 😊 I saw this book awhile ago (maybe a year or so?) on the Today show as one of Jenna’s book picks and have wanted to read it ever since. It is an inspiring story about the author and her escape from an abusive household and her quest to obtain a real education against all the odds. I think my teacher heart will love this one a lot!
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
This last book is an oldie but a goodie and is one of my favorite books I’ve read in the last 5 years. I may even re-read it this summer if I have time! Its story line is so unique and I got sucked into the characters and their lives so much. Delia is a very vivid storyteller and I couldn’t put this one down.
Do you have any must read books on your summer reading list? I’d love to hear what they are! Happy reading!
