Most elementary science curriculums include standards about human anatomy or the human body systems. If you too find yourself tasked with teaching human body systems to your elementary students, then I have some ideas to help bring your lessons to life!

Human Body Videos for Kids
Videos are a great way to introduce body systems to your students. I like to show videos to introduce a topic. This gives students some background knowledge before the lesson begins and provides a visual for upcoming content. Below are some of my favorite places to find kid-friendly human body system videos.
- SciShow Kids
- Peekaboo Kidz
- Operation Ouch
- Nemours Kids Health: How the Body Works
- Study Jams
- Brainpop (This site does require a subscription.)
Human Body Books for Kids
Reading books about the human body system to your students enhances their understanding their bodies. They also serve as a great tool for review! I like to have a bin of on-topic books in the front of my classroom. This makes the books easy access and perfect for early finishers or when you have a few extra minutes. Here are some of my favorite kid-friendly human body books.

Human Body Systems Websites for Kids
Whether you want to have your students research parts of the human body or use the content within your own lessons, these human body systems websites for kids provide a wealth of information.
- Ducksters

Loving the idea of having engaging, interactive human body systems units but short on time? I have already created complete 10-day body systems and body organs units. Each unit includes all the informational texts, videos, vocabulary, engaging activities, and student research that you need. Most also include digital versions as well.
