Fire Prevention Week and Fire Safety Day falls on the week of October 9th every year. Most elementary schools around the U.S. take this week to teach about fires and fire safety tips. I created this Fire-themed packet to teach about fire and fire safety while also practicing important ELA and math skills.

Fire Videos
These fire videos are perfect to use throughout Fire Prevention Week. A video viewing guide is included to use with any of the videos. A QR code poster and website links poster is included.

Fire Safety Tips Posters
Hang these fire safety tips posters on a bulletin board or focus wall throughout your study. A one page poster with all the tips is included for students.

Reading about Fire
Read about House Fires, What is Fire, and the history of Fire Safety Day with informational passages. Reading skill pages come with each passage to extend learning. Practice skills include main idea/ details, cause/ effect, and text-based questions.
Fire-themed Writing
Write about fires with three different engaging activities. Practice narrative writing with a fun “roll and write a story” page. Research a question about fires on the “I wonder…” page. Explain how to stay safe in a fire with an explanatory writing prompt.
Fire-themed Skill Pages
These skill pages are perfect to use throughout Fire Prevention Week. Language, reading, and math skill pages have a fire theme. The skill pages work well for morning work and learning center activities.
Fire Coloring Activities
Kids love coloring and drawing, so these activities are a fun addition! The fire drawing prompts students to draw a house and identify safety tips. The fire coloring notes is great to use at the end of your fire unit as a review or summary.
You can find all these activities in my Fire Resource found below.

Happy teaching!
